Approx how far is this from the city and or venue? Also, do the train lines extend this far out. Couldn't quite tell from google maps, any help would be great. Thanks.

Downers Grove is about 30 miles from the venue (45 minutes or so). The only public transportation out that way is the Metra (train) that will bring you to Union Station downtown. You then have to get over to the Red Line train and take that up to the show. It would kind of be a pain in the ass and add an additional hour onto your trip.

i think taking the trains is a much more acceptable "pain in the ass" than driving a car, struggling to find parking, then just paying like $50 to park in a lot full of other cars. that seems like much more of a "pain in the ass" to me.

i'd say if you're not from this area at all, take the trains, make a stop downtown, see chicago a little bit, make the trip more interesting that just driving to the venue and parking.

you can't come to chicago without giving yourself a chance to see a weirdo jerking off on the red line.
